The ELIXIR Board has appointed Tim Hubbard as the next ELIXIR Director. Tim brings a wealth of scientific, technical and management experience and is currently Professor of Bioinformatics in the Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics at King's College London, Senior Advisor at Genomics England and Associate Director of the London region of Health Data Research UK (HDR UK).

As ELIXIR prepares for the start of the 2024-2028 ELIXIR Scientific Programme, we are pleased to announce the selection of the co-leads for the new Science Priority Areas.
New approaches such as high throughput cell-based assays, omics data and imaging have led to an increase in toxicological data. To innovate risk assessment, exchange and reuse of data between researchers, regulatory and industrial stakeholders becomes increasingly important. To this end, the concept of FAIR data (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) is useful and needed, in particular as biological and chemical data interoperability issues exist. Developing an ELIXIR community will help to promote access to bioinformatics expertise to accommodate these needs.
Research Data Management (RDM) is crucial for implementing FAIR and Open Science principles. ELIXIR Platforms, Nodes, and other structures have invested in RDM, resulting in valuable tools and resources. The RDM Community aims to bring together RDM professionals to coordinate ELIXIR's activities and develop its vision.
