New ELIXIR Commissioned Service Guidelines published

Please be informed that the new Guidelines for ELIXIR Commissioned Services (CoS) have been published on the ELIXIR website. For optimal distribution, the Guidelines were additionally shared via the ELIXIR Programme TC on 21 March and will be included in the Weekly Brief on 25 March.

The Guidelines are designed to assist prospective Commissioned Service (CoS) co-leads and contributing partners through every step of thor ELIXIR CoS project, from application to successful completion. The document is structured into three parts:

  • Part 1 focuses on the pre-award phase, offering essential information and administrative support.
  • Part 2 details the conditions and implementation process following a successful project application.
  • Part 3 outlines the operational support provided by the Hub to assist Nodes members in their Commissioned Services activities.

For any questions regarding the Guidelines, please contact Kelly Tunstall ([email protected]).

EOSC OSCARS First Funding Call is Open

The first (of 2) EOSC-OSCARS Open Calls was launched by the European Science Clusters on 15 March. OSCARS is using a Cascading Grants mechanism (total 16m budget over two calls), which is managed by the project partners on behalf of the Science Clusters, where the Life Science Research Infrastructures are represented by Jonathan Tedds (Hub) and Jonathan Ewbank (ERINHA).

A Launch Event video recording can be found on the OSCARS YouTube channel, and associated news post about the launch of the call. The Call will be open for 60 days and the budget available is 100-250k per project for up to 2 years. A 2nd and final call will launch on 1 Nov 2024 with 60 day deadline. As the EC Cascading Grants mechanism applies, Horizon eligibility criteria do not apply and so a wider set of institutions are eligible for funding including those countries, Nodes not associated to Horizon Europe. There are updates on these details in the the FAQs page.

The ELIXIR EOSC Focus Group has set up an ELIXIR open document to allow members to share their planned proposal ideas to foster collaboration and avoid duplication. A discussion workshop is being scheduled (Doodle here with deadline Tuesday, 26 March, 17:00 CET).
